Some of Our Clients’ Stories…

  • Green ADU Affords Clean Air and Healthy Living
Bill and Mary didn’t just need an ADU – they needed a custom mini home like no other in the Portland area. With serious chemical sensitivities, Mary would have to personally vet every material used in the construction process to ensure a safe and comfortable environment where she and Bill could enjoy spending time together for years to come.
  • Attached ADU Gives Mom an Accessible Place of Her Own
When Dorothy moved into her daughter Pat’s Portland home, it didn’t take long for both women to miss having their own space. Dorothy was used to Florida temperatures and preferred to keep the heat on all day. Pat worried about her mother going up and down the stairs. The solution: create a bright, ADA-accessible, attached ADU where Dorothy could have free rein of the thermostat, spread out her sewing projects, and move safely between Pat’s home and her own.
  • Custom ADU Provides a Spacious, Light-Filled Portland Retreat
Dana wanted his mom to be able to live independently into her golden years, free from the work of keeping up her own home. So he and his wife, Peggy, set out to build her a beautiful, custom ADU, right in their Portland backyard. Years later, the couple has turned the 450-square-foot mini home into a five-star Airbnb, where they now enjoy hosting hundreds of travelers from around the world.
  • Tastefully Revitalize Vintage Bathroom for Evolving Needs
“Bob and Leanne” had invested great time and thought in restoring period detail to their 1920s bungalow. With two young children growing up quickly, this old bathroom had to meet the family’s future needs. Functionality became the priority. Because of health issues in the family, great care had to be taken with materials selection and dust control during the remodel.
  • One Basement Expansion for Two Different Needs
“Atif and Doreen” wanted to stretch their basement in two different directions; a comfortable, quiet, and isolated home office for Doreen and a specialized listening space for Atif’s passion for records. With grand ‘someday plans’ to convert the attic into a master suite, and concerns about the century-old foundation’s integrity in a seismic event, the remodel was the perfect time to reinforce the aging substructure.
  • Convert Attic Into Office For Growing Family
“Mike” needed a home office. His daughter needed her own bedroom. Moving homes was out of the question. “The Russells” had already made a substantial remodel to their beloved home, and they loved their neighborhood. The obvious solution: expand the attic into a complete home office.
  • Expand The Bathroom For Growing Family
After serving the household for a century, this bathroom needed a transformation. The current owners, “André” and “Tina,” wanted to open the floor space for easier supervision of the kids. Thanks to creative use of affordable, quality fixtures, and maintaining the bathroom’s size, the budget could accommodate a pair of splurges; custom painted tile, and the “telephone” hand spray faucet in the tub.
  • Bathroom Addition Allowed Family To Stay In Beloved Home.
Despite everything this rambling older home offered -abundant space, beautiful woodwork, great location- it had only one bathroom. With house prices outpacing Portland’s growing popularity, the “Barnums” wanted to stay in their 1907 home, and convert an underused dressing room into a master bath with a fresh approach.
